Product Feature and Application

This pressure reducing valve, also known as pressure regulator, is designed for use in hot and cold water supply systems to provide adjustable reduction of pressure. It consistently maintains downstream pressure at or below the set point, regardless of fluctuations in the main supply pressure. Even under static conditions, the pressure after the regulator will not exceed the preset value. Featuring a "post-action" working principle, it ensures precise and reliable control. The regulator includes a threaded port on the side for easy pressure monitoring (pressure gauge sold separately), and both connection ends are equipped with protective nylon caps for seal integrity.

Product Structure and Working Principle

Structure

The GenTant Pressure Reducing Valve consists of inlet and outlet connections, a spring-loaded sensing element, and an adjustment mechanism.


Working Principle

The fluid enters the inlet chamber and exerts equal force on the valve plug and the lower surface of the piston. The force of spring keeps the regulator open until the medium pressure acting on piston  in the outlet chamber balances with the set pressure. At this point, the valve plug begins to close the passage between the chambers, increasing resistance and reducing the outlet pressure to the set value. Using the brass adjustment nut, the regulator's outlet pressure can be set to a desired value different from the factory preset (3 bar).


Installation and operation instructions

The pressure regulator can be installed in any orientation. The direction of fluid must correspond to the arrow indicated on the valve body. The adjustment sleeve should be in an operable position.

The regulator should be installed in a location that facilitates commissioning and maintenance operations.

A mechanical filter with a filtration fineness of no less than 500 microns must be installed upstream of the regulator.


The following conditions must be met during installation:

● Thoroughly clean and flush the inlet section of the pipeline.

● Ensure that no sealing materials (such as PTFE thread seal tape, hemp sealing cord, etc.) enter the working chamber of the regulator.

● In new construction or major renovation projects, pipeline pressure testing and flushing must be completed before the regulator is installed.


The GenTant Pressure Reducing Valve must not bear any loads from the pipeline (including bending, compression, tension, torsion, misalignment, vibration, uneven tightening of fasteners, etc.). Where necessary, supports or compensators must be installed to eliminate loads imposed by the pipeline on the valve. The maximum installation torque for the regulator is listed in the table below

It is recommended to install the regulator upstream of the water meter.Pressure control must be performed using a pressure gauge, which can be installed at the position of the regulator plug. The gauge displays the outlet pressure of the regulator.

To adjust the set pressure, first loosen the cap, then use a wrench to turn the adjustment screw until the desired pressure is reached as indicated on the pressure gauge. Turning the adjustment screw clockwise increases the set pressure, while turning it counterclockwise decreases it. Tighten the cover securely after completing the adjustment.


To avoid noise or cavitation, it is recommended to maintain the inlet/outlet pressure ratio below 2.5 MPa. For example, if the required outlet pressure is 4 bar, the inlet pressure should not exceed 10 bar. If necessary, consider installing additional pressure reducing valves in series.
